Psalm 15 reflections

Sometimes I find myself wondering why certain things happen in my life or where the Lord is leading me. Recently, I was reminded of this while listening to a young man discuss passages from the Bible. He highlighted that there are many things required of me as a believer—things I don’t always do.

At times, I compare my life to others and question why some people seem to bypass certain challenges or live differently. But when I reflect on the past five years, I can see how I’ve been set apart in many ways. This makes me realize that instead of using the world’s judgment, it’s far more fruitful to approach life with biblical principles and understanding.

This brings me to Psalm 15, which David wrote to explore what it means to be close to the Most High—YHWH, Elohim. It’s not a matter of luck or chance. If I hearken to the Holy Spirit and allow myself to be corrected in my shortcomings, I can return to a place where I feel God’s hedge of protection around me and receive direction where there once was none.

Recently, I spoke with some Christians who were predicting a difficult year in 2024, full of challenges and evil. My perspective, however, has shifted. Reflecting on 2023, I see it as both a difficult and a blessed year. The difficulties often stemmed from things I couldn’t control, as well as consequences of past behavior. Yet, I’ve reached a place of gratitude, recognizing the lessons and growth.

So, how can we make 2024 our best year? By living our purpose with the Most High. He reveals our purpose to us daily. If we align ourselves with Him and live in obedience, we can make this our best year ever. Let Psalm 15 remind us to walk uprightly, work righteousness, and speak truth in our hearts.
