WHEN THINGS COME UP

When anything comes up, I just need to look up to the Father. That's what I need to do. It’s very tempting for me to get caught up in my own will—thinking that I’m blocked, that there’s no hope, and that I’m being negative.

But... is there joy today? Is there any gratitude I can have for what I have right now? Can I build on what I've already been given? Can I enjoy all the blessings that have enriched my life and the lives of so many others? I just need to really get centered on what God wants me to do and, more importantly, on the fact that God is more important than all of my problems. This is a bit of a rerun, but when I prayed, this is what came up—based on Psalm 123 and Psalm 121.

A song of ascents.

I lift up my eyes to the mountains—
    where does my help come from?
My help comes from the Lord,
    the Maker of heaven and earth.

He will not let your foot slip—
    he who watches over you will not slumber;
indeed, he who watches over Israel
    will neither slumber nor sleep.

The Lord watches over you—
    the Lord is your shade at your right hand;
the sun will not harm you by day,
    nor the moon by night.

The Lord will keep you from all harm—
    he will watch over your life;
the Lord will watch over your coming and going
    both now and forevermore.
