A Grace Before Meals

Lord Jesus, who took the bread, blessed it, broke it, and gave it (Luke 24:30) — do the same at this table tonight. We did not grow this grain. We did not raise this fruit. Every good gift comes down from the Father of lights (James 1:17), and we are eating his kindness again. Give us this day our daily bread (Matthew 6:11), and remind us we do not live by bread alone (Matthew 4:4). Bless the hands that grew it, the hands that cooked it, the hands now reaching for it. Keep us mindful of those who have no table tonight, and generous because of it. We thank you. We eat in your name. Amen.
