A Prayer to Walk Away from Strife

A Prayer to Walk Away from Strife

Lord of Wisdom and Prince of Peace,
I come to You not just for strength, but for restraint. You know the fire that rises in me when I feel disrespected, when anger knocks, when strangers provoke. But I remember—You are not only the God who fights for me… You are the God who tells me when not to fight.

Teach me to choose dignity over dominance. Let my silence speak louder than insults. Guard my heart from pride, and my hands from harm. May I not exchange Your peace for momentary satisfaction. I don’t want to win arguments—I want to win favor with You.

Help me discern when to speak and when to walk away. Make me wise like Christ, who could silence crowds with truth or leave them in stillness. Remind me that every man is known by You, and vengeance belongs to You alone.

Lord, help me remember:
My worth is not defined by how loud I shout.
My strength is not shown by how hard I hit.
My courage is not in confrontation, but in character.

Lead me to be a man of peace in a world full of chaos. Help me to bless those who curse, pray for those who mock, and walk away with grace still intact. Make me quick to listen, slow to speak, and slower to anger. Not out of fear—but out of wisdom, out of mercy, and out of love for You.

I belong to You—not to the fight.
Amen.
