Prayer for Releasing Lingering Anger

Heavenly Father,

I come before You honestly, admitting that I sometimes hold onto anger long after the moment has passed. Your Word tells me, “In your anger do not sin; do not let the sun go down while you are still angry” and urges me to be “quick to listen, slow to speak and slow to become angry”. Help me release the bitterness and resentment that linger in my heart. When I feel wronged, remind me that You see everything and will judge righteously. Teach me to forgive as You have forgiven me, trusting You to handle what I cannot. Fill me with grace and patience, so that peace replaces hostility and compassion rules my reactions. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
