Prayer for Self-Forgiveness and Forgiving Others
Gracious and Forgiving God, Healer of Broken Hearts,
In the quiet introspection of my soul, I acknowledge the need to forgive – to forgive myself for my past mistakes and to extend forgiveness to those who have hurt me. In this sacred moment, I seek Your guidance and Your healing touch. I do need help to enlarge my willingness.
Lord, teach me to forgive myself. Help me to understand that holding onto guilt and self-blame serves no purpose but to hinder my growth and happiness. Remind me that in Your eyes, I am more than my past actions; I am Your beloved child, redeemed and renewed through Your grace.
Grant me the courage to let go of past errors, the strength to learn from them, and the wisdom to move forward with renewed purpose. May Your love and forgiveness wash over me, releasing the chains of self-condemnation and opening my heart to Your infinite mercy.
I also pray for the grace to forgive those who have wronged me. Though the pain they caused may run deep, I choose the path of forgiveness, following the example of Christ who forgave even from the cross. Release me from the bondage of bitterness and resentment, and replace it with peace and understanding.
In forgiving others, help me to remember that forgiveness does not condone their actions, but frees my heart from the weight of anger and pain. Bless those I forgive, Lord, and work in their hearts just as You work in mine.
Thank You, Father, for the gift of Your forgiveness that allows us to start anew. In forgiving myself and others, let me reflect Your mercy and love. May this act of forgiveness be a stepping stone to healing, growth, and deeper relationships with You and those around me.
