A Prayer for Peace

Prince of Peace (Isaiah 9:6), you do not give as the world gives (John 14:27). The world hands out peace like a coin that buys quiet for an hour. You give yourself, and the storm becomes a story we tell later. Speak to the wind in my chest tonight: Peace, be still (Mark 4:39). Lay your hand on the part of me that has not slept in months. You have left peace with us; help us not to leave it on the table untouched. Let the peace that surpasses understanding (Philippians 4:7) guard my heart and mind in Christ Jesus. Amen.
