Seeking all forgiveness and praying for it
Share
Merciful Heavenly Father,
We humbly gather before You today, seeking Your deepest and most complete forgiveness. We recognize our fallen state and the debt of sin we carry on our souls. We come before You in confession, asking for the divine power of Your mercy to cleanse us and restore us.
In the Scriptures, we read that you command us to be perfect, just as You are perfect. We acknowledge that we fall short of this command and confess our sin to You. We seek Your forgiveness, not only for the sins we are aware of, but also for the sins that we may not even be aware of.
We ask for the Spirit of Jesus to convict us of sin and guide us in our daily lives, for we know that it is through Him that we can find true and deep forgiveness.
We pray for the courage to confess our sins to one another, acknowledged that it is through the confession of our sins and the forgiveness of one another that we can experience the joy and peace that accompanies a clean heart and a clear conscience.
In the New Testament, we read in 1 John 1:9 that "If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us and cleanse us from all unrighteousness." We cling to this truth, knowing that Your mercy is never-ending and Your grace is sufficient to cover all our transgressions.
We also ask for the strength to forgive one another, just as we have been forgiven by You. We pray for the Spirit of Jesus to prompt us to forgive, to love, and to extend mercy.
We ask for the courage to extend forgiveness, even when it is hard and difficult, knowing that the fruit of forgiveness is peace, joy, and freedom.
In the Old Testament, we read in Exodus 34:6-7 that "The Lord, the Lord, the compassionate and gracious God, slow to anger, abounding in love and faithfulness, maintaining love to thousands, forgiving wickedness, rebellion and sin. Yet He does not leave the guilty unpunished; He punishes the children and their children to the third and fourth generation." We seek that type of forgiveness, knowing that Your mercy endures forever.
We pray for the Spirit of Jesus to guide us through the challenging moments of our lives, knowing that His strength is made perfect in our weakness.
