The Prayer Against the Devourer

Anchor: Malachi 3:11 — "I will prevent pests from devouring your crops…says the Lord Almighty."

Consuming Fire, Fortress of my salvation, I approach Your throne today not merely to ask for more, but to guard what You have already given. For Your Word has made me wise to this: that the enemy of my soul is not only a roaring lion (1 Peter 5:8), but a quiet devourer — consuming income through waste, loss, broken trust, poor decisions, and invisible leaks that drain the vessel before it can be filled.

You promised through Your prophet Malachi that when Your people honor You with the firstfruits — when they bring the whole tithe and trust Your provision — You would rebuke the devourer on their behalf (Malachi 3:10–11). I stand upon that covenant today. I honor You first with what I have. I bring my offering not from abundance, but from faith, as the widow of Zarephath brought her last handful of flour and her last drop of oil to the man of God, and did not lack for the whole length of the drought (1 Kings 17:14–16).

Father, rebuke every force — seen and unseen — that would diminish, delay, or devour the increase You intend for me. Establish in me the wisdom of the ant that stores in summer (Proverbs 6:6–8). Teach my hands to trade wisely, my mouth to speak faithfully, and my heart to trust completely, even when the harvest is not yet visible and the barns appear empty.

I declare by faith: the Lord my God will bless all the work of my hands (Deuteronomy 28:12).
