The Prayer of Open Hands

Sovereign Lord, Maker of heaven and of all things therein, I come before You this morning with hands unclenched and soul laid bare. You alone are the fountainhead of every good gift, the unseen Provider who clothes the lilies and numbers the sparrows (Matthew 6:28–29). I confess that I have at times leaned upon my own understanding, trusting the labor of my hands more than the blessing of Your hand. Forgive me, gracious Father.

Your Word declares in Deuteronomy 8:18 that it is You — not my cleverness, not my connections, not the turning of markets — who grants the power to create wealth, so that Your covenant might stand firm in the earth. So I ask today: let that power rest upon me. Open doors I could not open with a thousand keys. Multiply the seed I have sown, as You once multiplied the loaves in a hungry multitude's hands (John 6:11).

Let every opportunity I encounter this day bear Your fingerprint. Let my income increase not merely for my comfort, but that I might be, as Abraham was called, a vessel of blessing to many nations (Genesis 12:2). May prosperity not swell my pride, but deepen my gratitude and widen my generosity.

In the name of Jesus, who is the same yesterday, today, and forever. Amen. (Hebrews 13:8)
