WHEN BESETTING SIN RETURNS
Share
Lord, I am here again, with the same sin clinging close (Hebrews 12:1), the same confession on my lips as last week and the week before that. Paul said it for me: the very thing I hate, I do (Romans 7:15). Wretched man that I am, who will deliver me? (Romans 7:24) — You, Lord Jesus. Only you. You did not come for the righteous but for sinners (Mark 2:17), not once but seventy times seven (Matthew 18:22). Cleanse me again. You are faithful and just (1 John 1:9). Lay aside in me every weight that slows me down (Hebrews 12:1). Where old habit has carved a deep groove, carve a deeper one by your Spirit who is making all things new (Revelation 21:5). I will keep bringing this to you until you have healed it, because you have never stopped calling me to bring it. Amen.
