A Prayer for Christian Parents in This Cultural Moment
Share
Lord, we are raising children in a world we did not raise. Give us wisdom for the moment we are in. You said, These words shall be on your heart — you shall teach them to your children when you sit in your house, when you walk by the way, when you lie down and when you rise (Deuteronomy 6:6–7). Show us how to teach in a world of noise. Guard their attention. Guard their imagination. Guard the small, secret places of their souls that the algorithm cannot see (1 Samuel 16:7). When we get it wrong, forgive us (Colossians 3:21). When we get it right, do not let us grow proud of it. Like Mary, let us keep these things and ponder them in our hearts (Luke 2:19) — knowing our children are yours first, and only ours on loan. Let them meet you before they leave our house. And when they leave, let them still walk with you. Amen.
