A Prayer for Revival

Lord, tear open the heavens and come down (Isaiah 64:1). Do among us what our best strategies cannot manufacture. Send a suddenly (Acts 2:2) — the wind that fills the room before anyone has stopped arguing about what wind is. Revive us again (Psalm 85:6). In the midst of the years, make yourself known (Habakkuk 3:2). You promised to pour your Spirit on all flesh — sons and daughters prophesying, young men seeing visions, old men dreaming dreams (Joel 2:28). Pour, then. Not for the applause or the headlines, but for one generation to know your name and one generation to remember it. Where the fire has died down to embers, blow. Where the ground has hardened, break it up (Hosea 10:12). Come down, Lord. Come down. Amen.

Wear the prayer Spirit of Faith — for the ones praying for a suddenly.
